Manuel Ugarte will become Manchester United’s fifth major signing of the summer transfer window, with there now “no doubt” that the Uruguay international will complete a move to Old Trafford.

The PSG midfielder is one of several players the Parc des Princes side are seeking to move on before the market closes next week, with deals also likely for Carlos Soler and Danilo Pereira.

Ugarte, though, is the headline player. PSG want as much as €60 million for the South American, and while Man Utd are unlikely to pay that figure this summer, it appears that they will finally get their man.

L’Equipe reports: “The Uruguayan is only waiting for the green light from his agent and PSG to fly to Manchester United. For all the other clubs seeking to hijack the deal, there is no longer any doubt: the midfielder will play for the Red Devils next season.

“Some details are still the subject of lengthy discussions, but the agreement in principle is there. A loan with a purchase option at €60 million automatically exercised with a very easily achievable clause. This agreement still needs to be finalised.”

PSG are still working on an agreement to get Erik ten Hag’s side to pay the full fee this summer, but it does not appear that this will be a decisive obstacle in the negotiations.

Ugarte has been left out of the PSG squad to face Montpellier in Ligue 1 on Friday.

West Ham closing in on Soler

Carlos Soler is also set to depart PSG this summer, with West Ham having made “considerable progress” towards signing the former Valencia star.

It is claimed that a deal worth €23m (including bonuses) has been agreed, with the player set to receive a similar salary with the Hammers to the one he earned at PSG.

Everton have also been linked with a potential hijack of the deal, but according to the French media, West Ham appear to be in pole position.
