Manchester United do not have long to before before the January transfer window closes for yet another year. United have been heavily linked with strengthening their squad ahead of Monday’s deadline, but have yet to make any new signings.

Michael Carrick was appointed as United’s interim head coach for the rest of the season earlier this month and has enjoyed an impressive start in the Old Trafford dugout.

United have claimed wins against Manchester City and Arsenal in their last two matches, and will be hoping to continue that winning form when they face Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The win over the Gunners moved United up to fourth place in the Premier League table and ahead of rivals Liverpool and Chelsea in the race for Champions League qualification.

Away from the action on the pitch, United are still being linked with several potential new signings, but it remains to be seen if the Red Devils will look to the market for reinforcements before Monday’s deadline.

Here, Mirror Sport takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.

Joao Gomes latest

United are continuing to be linked with a move for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes as the January transfer window nears its conclusion.

It has been reported by TEAMtalk that United are weighing up whether to make an attempt to try and sign Gomes before Monday’s deadline.

However, despite United still having an interest in signing Gomes, the report claims that a move is not expected to happen until the summer, at the earliest.

Reports in recent weeks have speculated that Wolves value Gomes at around £43million (€50million).

Joshua Zirkzee wanted

Joshua Zirkzee is once again being linked with a move away from United before the transfer window closes.

A report in Tuttosport has claimed that Juventus have now expressed an interest in signing Zirkzee before the deadline on Monday.

It has been claimed that Juve are looking to sign a striker before the window closes, and with No.1 target Randal Kolo Muani increasingly likely to remain at Tottenham Hotspur, Zirkzee has been identified as the ideal alternative.

The report goes on to say that, if Zirkzee was to sign for Juventus, it would be on a loan deal until the end of the season.
