Man Utd’s ‘new third kit’ features unusual badge change as ‘strip leaked’

A design for Manchester United’s third kit for next season has been ‘leaked’ online and it features a badge that has been the subject of much debate among fans

Manchester United supporters are divided after a design claimed to be the club’s 2026/27 third kit was ‘revealed’ online. The cream-and-red outfit boasts a centrally-positioned crest.

With Ruben Amorim’s departure, it remains uncertain who will be managing United when they officially unveil their strips for the 2026/27 campaign. Yet caretaker boss Michael Carrick has bolstered his case with a flawless beginning to his second tenure at Old Trafford.

His team comfortably saw off local rivals Manchester City 2-0 in his opening fixture before heading to Premier League pacesetters Arsenal and besting them 3-2 on Sunday. Strikes from Bryan Mbeumo, Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha secured all three points for Carrick’s men at the Emirates, just weeks after Amorim’s exit.

This recent triumph saw United’s players donning their existing black-and-yellow third strip. However, on the same day as this success, a social media account on X shared a concept design of a kit they allege will be United’s third outfit next term. Supporters were divided over the supposed central badge positioning.

A user on X suggests that United’s third kit next campaign will be predominantly cream featuring red detailing, bearing resemblance to the current away strip. The parallels between the kits persist with the inclusion of the red devil emblem.

This badge also appeared on the 2023/24 third strip, which shares some design features with the ‘leaked’ concept for next season. That kit came in cloud white and marked the first occasion a strip had displayed only the red devil crest.

Fans have shared their views in the comments beneath the post, with some offering positive feedback about the badge arrangement. One wrote: “I like the retro look with all the logos in the middle.”

Another penned: “Finally some nice kits.” A fourth supporter praised the design whilst questioning the badge positioning and wrote: “Don’t hate it. I’m not a big fan of the kit manufacturer being on top of the badge but it’s fine I guess.”

Yet some were not quite as keen on what might become United’s third kit next campaign and the positioning of the crest. One commented: “That is surely a joke? It is disgusting.”

A second stated: “I don’t get the trend for shirts with all the badges down the middle.” Whilst a third claimed: “I think I would like it better if the logos were in a conventional layout.”

There’s still some time before fans witness United players donning their 2026/27 strip. And with Carrick’s second spell starting so promisingly, they might hope to see it displayed in the Champions League. But Carrick is maintaining a measured approach regarding European qualification, despite the victory over Arsenal lifting them above Liverpool into the top four.

“I know from our perspective, it’s just moving forward to the next game,” Carrick said following the Arsenal triumph. “It’s been less than two weeks we’ve been together. I don’t think we can look too far ahead.

“We certainly won’t be, anyway. I know that’s kind of obvious, but looking too far ahead can come back and bite you really. So we’ve taken this week by week and game by game. We’ll certainly continue to do that.”
