Out of favour at Old Trafford, Rashford moved to Barca on loan last summer and has been a huge success with the Camp Nou side. He has scored 10 goals and created 11 more in 33 games, with his overall contribution regularly hailed.

While there had been some doubts over his future due to the financial restrictions around Barcelona, the Blaugrana have elected to take up the €30 million buy option in the deal they brokered with Man Utd last summer, according to Fichajes.

Marcus Rashford to Barcelona: Flick pushes for deal

Barcelona consider the €30m fee to be “manageable”, while Rashford will not be joining as a star but instead a player who can fit into Hansi Flick’s offensive rotation.

Indeed, the German coach has been a major driver in the deal being completed. He approached the board and told them how important Rashford is for his plans and how integral his profile is for the team. Indeed, Flick even thinks that the England international has another level to show.

Analysis: Signing Rashford an easy decision

While €30m represents a sizeable investment for Barca given their ongoing battle to comply with La Liga’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions, in many ways, signing Rashford should be seen as a no-brainer.

His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) sits at €52.2m, according to FootballTransfers’ unique algorithm, suggesting that they are getting the player at an enormous discount of more than €20m.

Even if things were to go wrong for him subsequently at Barca, the club would stand a strong chance of making a profit on their investment.

On top of this, it promises to be a summer of renovation in the attack as Robert Lewandowski looks increasingly likely to move. The club would be giving themselves a further recruitment headache if they were also to allow Rashford to depart.

The challenge of finding a player who would have the Englishman’s impact for a fee of around €30m is clearly not one that Flick relishes.
