After careful consideration, Mark Uth has made it clear that he will retire once the current campaign finishes.
Speaking after FC Köln’s rather disappointing 1-1 draw with Jahn Regensburg yesterday, the veteran forward broke the news.
“I’ve given it a lot of thought over the past few weeks and months and have decided to end my career after the season.
“The team here at the Geißbockheim, in particular, didn’t make the decision easy for me,” he added.
With Effzeh on the cusp of promotion to the Bundesliga, the 33-year-old will play his final home game at the Rhine-Energie Stadion against Nürnburg next Friday.
Uth, a native of Köln since birth, progressed through the club’s youth academy to make 76 appearances where he scored 12 goals and provided 17 assists to date.
