Markus Krösche linked with shock exit from Eintracht Frankfurt

Sport Bild suggests that a split could be looming between Eintracht Frankfurt and board member for sport Markus Krösche.

In recent years, Eintracht Frankfurt have earned widespread praise for the club’s development, with board member for sport Markus Krösche receiving particular acclaim for his work on the transfer market.

However, not everything appears to be going smoothly behind the scenes amid the sporting struggles that Eintracht have faced this season.

According to Sport Bild, it’s by no means certain that Krösche will see out his contract, which runs until 2028. 

The 45-year-old reportedly believes there is a growing gap between the club’s financial and sporting expectations. The expectation is for Eintracht to generate a significant transfer surplus while simultaneously improving on the pitch – but Krösche doesn’t believe this model can work indefinitely.

The report also claims that comments made by club CEO Axel Hellmann at the January general assembly didn’t do down well with Krösche.

“We misjudged the squad in one or two areas and positions, and we must admit that one or two personnel decisions simply didn’t work,” Hellmann said, among other things.

Sport Bild does not specify how pressing the situation is, but if Krösche decides he wants to leave before his contract expires, several opportunities are likely to be open to him.
