Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is reportedly weighing up his long-term future at the club, with Mikel Arteta’s side open to offers this summer.

The Norway international has been an integral player for the Gunners since his arrival in 2021 and he has spent the past three-and-a-half years as club captain after taking over duties from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, Odegaard could be set to depart the Emirates Stadium later this year, with both Bayern Munich and Inter Milan monitoring his situation.

That is according to transfer reporter IndyKaila, who claims that Odegaard is exploring his options ahead of a possible departure during the 2026 summer transfer window.

The former Real Madrid starlet will have two years remaining on his current Arsenal contract this summer and it’s reported that Arteta’s side may look to offload Odegaard in order to help their compliance to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The 27-year-old currently boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €76.3 million and he is therefore highly likely to usurp Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (€38m to Liverpool) as Arsenal’s most expensive sale in history if he departs north London this year.

Martin Odegaard to leave Arsenal?

Despite rumours of a 2026 exit, Odegaard remains a key player for Arsenal and, even amid an injury-hit campaign, he has still started 13 Premier League matches so far this season.

However, he has been substituted before the 60 minute mark in both of the Gunners’ past two league fixtures and faces renewed competition for a starting XI place from both Eberechi Eze and Mikel Merino.

In Ethan Nwaneri, who joined Olympique Marseille on loan earlier this month, Arsenal also have a ready-made replacement for Odegaard and a sale will be extremely tempting this summer if they are unable to finalise contract extension terms with the 27-year-old.
