Mason Greenwood has reportedly told his advisors that sealing a summer move to Barcelona would be his ‘dream’.

The former England international is currently on loan in Spain with Getafe after it was decided he would play no part in Manchester United‘s immediate future.

This came after criminal allegations against him for attempted rape, assault and coercive control were dropped. The 22-year-old denied all the charges.

Greenwood is a long-term target for the Catalan giants and reports towards the end of December suggested that they were weighing up a £40million move for the United exile.

And it now appears as if the striker is edging toward that move after The Sun reported that Greenwood has told his advisors to make the move happen.

Greenwood has not set LaLiga alight by any mans but he has on occasion produced the flashes of quality that promised a long and successful career when he broke into the United first team in 2019.

The forward currently has five goals in 19 games and with no future at parent club United on the cards, Greenwood now has his heart set on a move to the Nou Camp.

Reports suggest that United want £40m for the striker despite the fact that he will have just one year left on his Red Devils deal at the end of this season.

Barca have reportedly sent scouts to watch Greenwood play six times this season and are impressed by his performances.

So much so that a report at the end of last year claimed that they were ready to offer Greenwood their fabled No 10 shirt – previously worn by club legend Lionel Messi – to sweeten the deal.

Greenwood’s current side Getafe are also rumoured to be interested in permanently signing the forward.
