Mason Mount has returned to full training at Manchester United following his latest injury lay-off.

An update from the club said that Mount will not be rushed back but could be available for new manager Ruben Amorim after the international break, having trained with his team-mates at Carrington on Monday.

Mount has been out of action since United’s 3-0 defeat by Tottenham in late September when he came on as a half-time substitute for Kobbie Mainoo and then went off towards the end after a collision with Radu Dragusin that also left him with a cut head.

The 25-year-old has missed the last seven games – including Sunday’s draw against his former club Chelsea at Old Trafford – during which time manager Erik ten Hag has been sacked and Ruud van Nistelrooy appointed as interim until Amorim takes over on November 11.

Mount has been plagued by injury since moving to United from Chelsea in July of last year – most notably a calf injury that kept him out for four months last season – and has made just 25 appearances in 16 months.

Tyrell Malacia was also involved in Monday’s session as the Netherlands defender works his way back from an 18-month lay-off due to knee surgery.

Malacia, who was Ten Hag’s first signing in the summer of 2022, has not featured for United since May 2023.

Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Mainoo are among other absentees through injury.
