McTominay sends 5-word message as Scotland qualify for World Cup – latest

Napoli star Scott McTominay celebrated Scotland’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup with a social media post: ‘USA BABY, SCOTLAND ARE COMING.’

Scotland qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1998 after a 4-2 win over Denmark on Tuesday.

McTominay opened the scoring at minute three with a fantastic overhead kick, later sharing the moment on Instagram along with a celebratory message.

‘USA BABY, SCOTLAND ARE COMING,’ wrote the Scotland international, who has now netted 14 times in 67 international appearances.

McTominay hadn’t even turned two when his country last played in the World Cup in 1998 and will lead his team in the USA, Mexico and Canada next year.

The former Manchester United star has netted four times and provided one assist in 14 Napoli appearances across all competitions this term.

In 2024-25, his first Serie A season, he was named the best player in the league and contributed to the Partenopei’s second domestic title in three years.
