Although Milan and Inter are opponents on the pitch, the clubs’ owners still have quite a lot in common, especially after a recently submitted offer to buy the San Siro area and build a new joint stadium.

Milan and Inter meet in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal this evening, and even if both sides will naturally be fighting to earn a spot in the Final, they still have common traits, especially off the pitch.

With Oaktree’s takeover from Suning last summer, both Milanese sides now have American owners, but the Nerazzurri have yet to win a derby against their city rivals this season, having collected two defeats and one draw.

Gazzetta notes that Milan and Inter’s American owners may be divided on the pitch, but are surely united by a plan to build a new stadium in the San Siro area in the coming years.

The Milanese sides sent a joint offer to the Milano Municipality last month. Their plan is to buy the Stadio Meazza and its surroundings, partially demolish the historic stadium and build a new one in the same area.

According to Gazzetta, Milan and Inter’s new stadium will cost €1.25 billion and will have a capacity of 71,500.
