Milan are keeping their options open for a new centre-forward, as Sky Sport Italia report a trip to the Netherlands for Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, while Sportitalia claim a push for Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca.

A striker has to arrive before the transfer deadline on Monday night, especially as Alvaro Morata is on the verge of a move to Galatasaray for €16m and Francesco Camarda is close to joining Monza on loan.

Gimenez is their first choice and Feyenoord set the price tag at €40m, so after an initial €20m plus add-ons proposal was rejected, Milan have gradually increased it to €30m plus bonuses and a percentage of the sell-on fee.

Sky Sport Italia report this evening that Milan directors are flying out to Rotterdam on Friday for face to face negotiations with Feyenoord, hoping they can get the deal done.

However, they’re covering other bases too, because Sportitalia also claim tonight that negotiations are intensifying with Udinese for Italy international Lucca.

The asking price there is €30-35m, while the offer so far is €25m, potentially with a player in part-exchange to keep the costs down.

The 24-year-old is very tall and good in the air, something that has been notoriously lacking in the current Milan squad.

Lucca scored eight Serie A goals for Udinese this season, plus two in the Coppa Italia.
