Mohammed Kudus completes an incredible mazy run before scoring West Ham’s fourth goal in Europa League Round of 16 clash against Freiburg

Mohammed Kudus has scored an exceptional solo goal after a long mazy run to move West Ham 4-0 up in the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie against Freiburg.

The Ghana international collected possession in the middle of his own half, before driving forward, tricking his way past several of the German’s side’s defenders, and finally slotting the ball home in the bottom corner.

While West Ham lost the opening leg last week in Germany, the one-goal deficit was quickly overturned by the Hammers in London on Thursday evening – and Kudus scored a superb second as well to make it 5-0 to the hosts.

Kudus’s solo goal came after he won the ball back just inside his own half, before dribbling past three Freiburg players, before sending a clinical finish into the back of the net past Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu.

Speaking on TNT Sports, former West Ham youth product Joe Cole said Kudus had completed a ‘goal of the season contender’, adding ‘they’ll be playing this back for decades’.

Commentators on X (formerly Twitter) were also quick to comment on Kudus’ exceptional goal.

One wrote ‘Wow that is great’, while another added ‘He is something else’.

A third wrote ‘Are u Kidding me? 1986 Maradona vs England?’, a comparison which Cole also agreed with.

Diego Maradona‘s iconic second goal for Argentina at the 1986 World Cup saw the superstar dribble round various English defenders before slotting home, which was voted ‘Goal of the Century’ at an event in the run up to the 2002 World Cup.

Eight minutes after his first goal against Freiburg on Thursday evening, Kudus got his second, which was nearly as good.

He struck a rocket from the edge of the box, which Atubolu had no chance of keeping out.
