Moises Caicedo to MISS Chelsea’s trip to Man City after being booked just four minutes into Bournemouth clash

Moises Caicedo will miss Chelsea‘s crucial clash against Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.

The midfielder, who has been one of Enzo Maresca‘s most important players so far this season, was cautioned just four minutes into Tuesday’s clash with Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo was shown the booking by match referee Sam Barrott after clipping the heels of Adrien Truffert near the halfway line.

Maresca appeared furious on the touchline after Caicedo was handed the booking, clearly feeling the decision from Barrott was harsh. 

Caicedo, who picked up his fourth yellow card of the campaign just days ago during Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat by Aston Villa on Saturday, must now sit out for one game before returning against Fulham next Wednesday.

The Ecuadorian was one of five Chelsea players to be shown a yellow by Stuart Atwell against Villa last weekend, while Maresca was forced to watch on from the back of the press box while serving a touchline ban of his own.

In addition, Chelsea have also received several red cards already this season, with Maresca, Caicedo, Joao Pedro, Robert Sanchez, Liam Delap, Trevoh Chalobah and Malo Gusto all being sent off during the first half of the campaign. 

Insisting that the Blues do not have an issue with discipline, Maresca said after the Villa clash: ‘Again, we need to analyse every yellow card. But I didn’t have the feeling that there was a disciplinary problem.’
