In an interview with Kicker, Thomas Müller discussed his first impressions of new Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany and his own future with the club.
Thomas Muller hopes to play an important role under new Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany.
“I’m working very hard to get as much playing time as possible – but that’s what everyone wants,” the 34-year-old veteran told Kicker:
“I still see my strengths in creating chances and scoring goals.”
At this stage, it’s difficult for the 34-year-old to predict how big a role he’ll play under the new coach.
“It’s a new situation for everybody. Obviously, I hope that I can contribute the skills that make me different in a positive way and that the coach wants to use them,” Müller said.
It will take time for Kompany to fully implement his ideas, Müller noted, but he’s happy with how things are going so far.
“At the moment it looks like everything has a solid foundation. What I like is that we’ve already been able to implement the things we set out to do in the first few friendlyies,” he said.
Müller’s contract with Bayern expires next summer, and he can’t say whether he’ll be extended beyond that.
“At the moment I don’t know what my role will be. Football is much too fast and lively for that,” said Müller, who added that he feels “fit as a fiddle and full of energy.”
