Jamal Musiala remains keen to extend his contract with Bayern Munich and expects to sign a new long-term deal by February at the latest, according to Sky Germany.

A heavily performance-based contract until 2029 or 2030 worth a total of around €25 million per year is currently being discussed, according to the report, which claims that Musiala and his management have reduced their initial demands by a total of 4-5 million in an attempt to find a foothold with Bayern.

A recent report in Sport Bild has suggested that Musiala wants a release clause worth in the region of €175 million inserted into the deal, which could complicate negotiations between the parties.

Sky Germany, meanwhile, states that while such a clause has indeed been discussed, it’s by no means set in stone, while also pointing out that no player has ever left the Bundesliga for a fee of that magnitude.
