In the wake of the Julian Nagelsmann’s German national team selection, the head coach revealed some interesting dialogue from an interaction with Mika Biereth.

Nagelsmann reportedly contacted the 22-year-old AS Monaco forward about the possibility of representing Germany.

Despite being born in England, Biereth qualified for representing the DFB-Team through his Danish-German father.

“I spoke with him,” said Nagelsmann. “The first thing was to check whether there was a possibility for him to play for us.

“We looked into it a lot, but unfortunately that’s not possible. In his last game for Denmark, he was already 21 plus a few days’ [old].

“Accordingly, he can’t represent another nation, and it’s no longer possible to provide him with a German passport to play for Germany,” Nagelsmann explained.

Biereth has been on fire for Monaco this season already with 10 goals and 2 assists in 8 Ligue 1 games. He has represented the Denmark U21 team on 6 occasions scoring once.
