Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has signed a contract extension until after Euro 2028.

Nagelsmann’s contract was originally due to expire after the 2026 World Cup, but he has now agreed to stay on for two more years.

“When I joined the DFB in September 2023, I couldn’t have imagined that I would be coach of the national team beyond the European Championship. Our big goal was to win the tournament. But I couldn’t have imagined what the national team means to the people of Germany. How many hearts it touches and moves,” said Nagelsmann.

“The fantastic feedback that we all receive every day, not just me, shows us that we are on the right path together. And it’s not over yet. We have all created something together – the fans, the team and the coaching staff – that we now want to develop successfully. We want to win titles together.

Nagelsmann has now been at the helm for 19 games, winning 11, drawing five and losing three.

He led them to the quarter-finals of the European Championship, where they lost 2-1 after extra time to eventual winners Spain.
