Napoli are expected to land the signature of Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in January, according to Italian outlet Il Mattino.
The Serie A champions made an enquiry for the England international when they signed Rasmus Hojlund from the Red Devils on loan last summer.
United were not keen on discussing Mainoo’s future at the time, but the situation could be much different when the transfer window reopens.
Mainoo has been a regular unused substitute for the Red Devils and most of his playing time has come off the bench over the last few months.
The club graduate is open to pursuing a loan deal this winter and it appears Napoli are prepared to make the first move for his signature.
United have a good working relationship with the Italian champions, having already sold Scott McTominay to them last year.
Hojlund was signed on a temporary deal last summer, but Napoli have an option as well as a conditional obligation to buy the Dane.
