Serie A champions Napoli are close to reaching an agreement to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, according to Spanish website Fichajes.
The England international has fallen out-of-favour under manager Ruben Amorim this campaign. He has been a regular substitute since the start of the season.
Mainoo pushed for a loan exit last summer, but United refused to grant his wish. It is now claimed that the 20-year-old could be on the move in the New Year.
Napoli are already negotiating terms with the Red Devils for their graduate and they could seek to sign him on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Mainoo is desperate to play for England at the World Cup next summer. At the moment, he is completely out of the picture amid his lack of playing time at United.
There is no doubting his potential. Mainoo could turnaround his career quickly if he were to join another club during the winter transfer window.
Napoli have already signed Rasmus Hojlund on loan from United. Their option to buy will become an obligation if they qualify for the Champions League.
