Napoli to come calling for Bayern midfielder

The midfielder – who joined Bayern from Schalke 04 – is linked with a move to Naples.

SSC Napoli are hoping to strengthen their midfield in the January transfer window and see Leon Goretzka as the preferred candidate. 

With Kevin De Bruyne (hamstring), Billy Gilmour (pubalgia) and Frank Anguissa (hamstring) out, the reigning Seria A champions need cover. 

However, Bayern Munich are unlikely to sell Goretzka mid-season even though his contract will expire in the summer.

In mid-November, the midfielder was linked with Juventus but a report from Sport BILD labelled a move “out of the question” in January. 

Now, it looks more and more likely that the 30-year-old is set to hold talks with the Bavarians in early 2026 to decide his future. 

Therefore the Italian champions are looking at other names like Kobbie Mainoo, Soungoutou Magassa and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

So far this season, Goretzka has amassed 23 appearances across all competitions but has played just 1,108 minutes under Kompany.
