At the age of 39, Manuel Neuer shows no signs of retiring anytime soon.
According to Sport Bild, Bayern plan to wait until the end of the year before starting talks with Neuer about a contract extension beyond 2026.
Both Neuer and the club are reportedly open to a one-year extension, with Sport Bild even suggesting that the veteran could potentially remain at Bayern until the summer of 2028, at which point he will be 42 years old.
If Neuer signs a new contract, Alexander Nübel – currently on loan at VfB Stuttgart for the third consecutive season – would likely have to give up his hopes of becoming Bayern’s No. 1 and leave the club permanently.
Bayern also have 22-year-old Jonas Urbig in their ranks, while Daniel Peretz is currently struggling out on loan at Hamburger SV.
