Newcastle are dealt ANOTHER injury blow as Nick Pope hobbles out of their Man United clash before Eddie Howe admits ‘it looks like he’s dislocated his shoulder’… as the keeper becomes the TENTH Magpies star on the sidelines

Nick Pope was forced off with a shoulder problem during Newcastle’s Premier League 1-0 win over Manchester United at St James’ Park, adding to Eddie Howe‘s ongoing injury crisis.

In the 82nd minute, the England international was injured and required medical assistance after diving to make a save from a Man United corner.

Pope’s exit, as he was aided by Newcastle’s medical team, was met with loud applause from the home fans, with Martin Dubravka, a former Man United loanee, selected to see out the remaining minutes of the match.

After the game, manager Howe confirmed it looked like his No 1 had dislocated his shoulder – as he became the 10th Magpies star on the sidelines in an already deepening injury crisis at St James’ Park.

Howe said: ‘It’s a massive blow for us if Nick is going to be out for any length of time. It’s usually the way, it looks innocuous but they also look the most serious at times. He looked in distress there. I think he’s dislocated his shoulder just diving. The arm kept going and looks like we could lose him.

‘I have to compliment Martin because he’s come on with 10 minutes to go and that’s not nice for a goalkeeper to do that. I thought he did really well.’

Anthony Gordon got the only goal of the game in the 55th minute, and despite a significant amount of additional time at the end of the game, Newcastle held on for the vital 1-0 win over Erik ten Hag‘s Man United.

Howe added he was over the moon with how his side had reacted and pushed on despite missing a host of names.

‘I couldn’t be happier with the players tonight. I thought we did really well against a really good team.

When we do get players back in the future we’ll be really strong, but the effort levels have been of the highest quality.’
