Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has made it clear that he will not sanction the sale of his favourite player Alexander Isak, according to a report.

The Swedish sharpshooter is enjoying a magnificent season with the Magpies. Newcastle beat Liverpool on Sunday to claim the Carabao Cup, their first major trophy since 1955.

Isak, like pretty much every Newcastle player, was exceptional on the day and passed what many believed to be his transfer audition with flying colours. While Liverpool striker Diogo Jota fluffed his lines, Isak scored and was unlucky not to have more than one.

It illustrated nicely why Liverpool are so keen on the 25-year-old and why he also features at the top of Mikel Arteta’s summer shortlist for Arsenal.

Newcastle’s stance all this time has been that they will not sell their talismanic striker and this stance has now been reiterated by the club’s chairman.

Saudis won’t entertain Isak sale

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle boss and governor of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund Yasir Al-Rumayyan has made it very clear to the rest of the club’s hierarchy that Isak is not for sale.

Al-Rumayyan was at Wembley on Wednesday to witness history and he joined the team at their afterparty. Isak is his favourite player and the Saudi chief is ‘adamant’ that Isak is going nowhere.

Contrary to reports, it is stated that the PIF have not set an asking price for Isak because they are determined to fight off any potential interest this summer, although it is acknowledged that failure to qualify for the Champions League could make the player consider his options.

It is further asserted that Barcelona scouts were in attendance during Newcastle’s clash with West Ham last Monday as they plot a marquee signing for the opening of their refurbished Camp Nou. However, given the club’s financial issues, it is unlikely that they will be able to sign Isak.
