Newcastle United fans found themselves being attacked by Paris Saint-Germain‘s ultras in Paris on Monday night.
Videos surfaced on social media of Newcastle fans trying to blockade doors as flares and chairs were being thrown by the French side’s ultras, after they had located where English fans were gathering 24 hours before Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
The Newcastle United Supporters’ Club posted: ‘Stay safe in Paris tonight. Stick together and look after each other.’
One of the videos on social media seemed to show travelling Newcastle fans attempting to stop PSG fans storming a bar they were in.
Another video shows glasses being smashed and windows being broken as tensions escalated.

A third video showed a large group of hooded individuals which was tagged on social media as: ‘PSG ultras looking for Toon’.
In a bid to curb violence ahead of Tuesday’s match, police had previously stated that pubs designated for away fans should close early to reduce the risk of clashes with PSG supporters.
Intelligence provided growing concern of potential trouble after PSG fans were involved in incidents in the North East with Newcastle fans after the first match between them, which Newcastle won 4-1.

Trouble in Paris conjures up bad memories for Newcastle fans.
Earlier in this group stage one Newcastle supporter was stabbed in Milan by a gang that had followed him walking back to his hotel prior to their Champions League opener the following night.
The stricken fan was ambushed by seven or eight people as he walked back from a night out in Milan’s Navigli district, which was where lots of Newcastle fans gathered.
Newcastle are bottom of their Champions League group ahead of Tuesday’s match and know they likely need to win to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.
