Chalobah set for Newcastle?

Chelsea have accepted a reported £20 million bid from Newcastle United for centre-back Trevoh Chalobah, as the 25-year-old England international looks set for a departure from Stamford Bridge. Having spent some of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, the Eagles opted not to sign the 6 foot 4 defender on a permanent basis.

Chalobah has been in and around the first-team at Stamford Bridge for five years, but has been told by manager Enzo Maresco that he has no future at the club and is free to depart.

It is understood that Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is concerne dthat Fabian Schar and Dan Burn are not getting any younger, and is unsure whether or not Sven Botman will be an able replacement for the impressive duo. Chalobah is also very highly rated by Howe, with the former Bournemouth manager mentioning that the defender is one of his top transfer targets to his internal coaching team.

Chalobah has been impressive in recent months, making his debut for England last month in a friendly defeat to Senegal.
