NEWCASTLE PUSH FOR TEEN DEFENDER 

Newcastle are expected to push ahead with a bid for Toulouse defender Dayann Methalie despite the 19-year-old undergoing knee surgery.

The left-back, who can also play at centre back, has undergone a procedure to remedy knee pain but is expected back within a month and Newcastle want to head off competition for the talented teenager.

Newcastle striker William Osula is still wanted by Eintracht Frankfurt despite the fact they plan to sign Arnaud Kalimuendo on loan from Nottingham Forest. However, Osula, who is recovering fitness after an ankle injury, also has interest from Aston Villa.

Kalimuendo is still expected to undergo his medical with Frankfurt in the next 48 hours after they agreed to pay a £1.2m loan fee to Forest with option to buy.

Tottenham have been rebuffed in an approach for Santos left-back Souza. Spurs are understood to have offered £8m. The 19-year-old has also attracted attention from Chelsea, he has an £87m buy out clause.

Bournemouth have added Stoke City winger Sorba Thomas to their list of potential replacements for Antoine Semenyo.

Daily Mail Sport revealed that Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu is one of Bournemouth’s targets as they anticipate Semenyo’s £65m departure, but Wales international Thomas has also come under consideration after an impressive season in the Championship where he has scored nine league goals this season.

Thomas, 26, scored one and set up the other in Stoke’s 2-0 win at Norwich on Sunday.

BEES EYE UP MAN CITY YOUNGSTER

Manchester City defender Juma Bah has emerged as an option for Brentford.

The 19-year-old is on loan at Nice so that would have to be curtailed if The Bees pursue initial talks.

Brentford are exploring centre-backs on the market as Wolfsburg are keen on Kristoffer Ajer.

Another City centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, 20, underwent a medical at Bundesliga club Cologne on Sunday ahead of a fresh loan move with option to buy. The England U20 international was at Celtic for the first half of the season.

City have asked about 18-year-old forward Mathys Detourbet from sister club Troyes in France.

The France U21 international, who can play off either wing, made his first team debut a year ago.

City defender Nathan Ake is continuing to assess options after rejecting a move to West Ham.

Winger Luis Guilherme is completing his £14m transfer to Sporting Lisbon from West Ham.

Lazio striker Taty Castellanos is still scheduled to undergo a medical with West Ham even though manager Nuno Espírito Santo is at risk of losing his job.

The Hammers have also discussed Al Ittihad winger Steven Bergwijn, formerly of Spurs.

Manchester United left-back Harry Amass has loan interest from Stoke and Watford who have had to send Caleb Wiley back to Chelsea following injury. Watford have also asked about Julio Soler at Bournemouth who had interest from Ajax. Amass is on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds United are following Salford’s Under-16 centre back Archie Oldham.
