Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on the situation of Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo ahead of the January transfer window.
The England international has struggled for regular playing time under manager Ruben Amorim and he was keen on leaving the Red Devils on loan during the recent transfer window.
United made it clear that Mainoo won’t be allowed to depart, considering the club had limited quality and depth in midfield, having failed to reinforce the department over the last few months.
This has not ended the speculation regarding his future, and reports claim that the Magpies are keeping tabs on his situation ahead of the New Year.
Eddie Howe‘s side could make a permanent proposal for the Red Devils graduate, but it appears unlikely that United will sanction his sale.
United are most likely to wait until the end of the campaign before contemplating over the future of the highly-rated midfielder.
The club could still sign a marquee midfielder this winter.
