Fenerbahce are not ready to just stand idly by as rivals Galatasaray bring in European superstars like Leroy Sane and, potentially, Victor Osimhen.

Jose Mourinho’s side have endured a devastating decade. While hated city rivals Galatasaray have collected titles left and right, Fenerbahce have not won the Turkish Super Lig since 2014.

Galatasaray recently claimed their third successive Super Lig trophy, and they have also left their mark off the pitch. By signing Victor Osimhen on loan from Napoli last summer, they hugely enhanced their prestige as nobody thought it possible that they could attract a player like that.

This trend has already continued this summer, with the side from Istanbul’s European part securing the signing of Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich. Still only 29, Sane is at his peak, although admittedly, he hasn’t always played like it in recent seasons.

Galatasaray are reportedly paying him as much as €15 million per season, while they are also trying everything in their power to keep Osimhen on a similar – or even larger – salary. Should they manage to do the impossible and sign the Nigerian permanently, it would be the biggest deal in the history of Turkish football.

Fenerbahce launch transfer offensive

Fenerbahce, meanwhile, are ready to launch a major transfer offensive of their own. With Edin Dzeko set to join Fiorentina, they are in need of attacking reinforcements, and they are trying to go big.

In recent weeks, they have been linked with a shock move for Brazilian megastar Neymar, although little has so far come of this. Now, they are also targeting Jhon Duran, Heung-min Son and Alexis Sanchez.

Turkish transfer expert Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reports that Duran, Son and Man City full-back Kyle Walker are concrete targets of the Istanbul side, while Tuttomercatoweb argues that Sanchez is also a top priority despite a poor season at Udinese.

Son, it is claimed, would be keen to reunite with his former Tottenham manager Mourinho, and some of his comments recently cast doubt on his Spurs future despite the club triggering a one-year extension in his deal to keep him beyond this summer.

As things stand, a move for Son is deemed unlikely because the North London club are reportedly demanding a whopping €30m transfer fee for the 32-year-old.

As for Walker, an official offer has already been made, and Mourinho is said to have demanded that the England international be signed in time for the start of pre-season.

Fener have also launched an offer for Duran, as have Napoli. The Colombian only joined Al-Nassr in January for €77m but is said to be keen to leave the Saudi Pro League after just six months as he has found it hard to settle. A loan appears to be a realistic scenario.

Whether Fener will manage to land any of these targets remains to be seen, but they are trying to be ambitious in a bid to finally break Galatasaray’s stranglehold on the Super Lig.
