Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams is reportedly keen on joining Bayern Munich amid interest from Arsenal this summer.
The Spain international has been a long-term target for the Gunners and it has been reported that manager Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer.
However, Arsenal have yet to make a formal offer due to multiple stumbling blocks. First of all, they can’t afford to pay his £50 million release clause in full.
Secondly, his wage demands are a big sticking point too. Williams reportedly wants to earn around £325,000 per week which the Gunners are unlikely to match.
Amidst this, Florian Plettenberg reports that Bayern have entered the race for the Bilbao graduate, and they are prepared to meet the demands of the club and the player.
Williams has been made aware of the transfer interest and he has opened the door to joining the Bavarian giants. They see him as a replacement for Leroy Sane.
Sane is set to join Galatasaray on a free transfer.
