Newly promoted Cremonese seem to have made a decision on their new coach, who will be Davide Nicola as soon as he terminates his contract with Cagliari.
The team secured promotion via the play-offs, making the step up to Serie A this summer along with Sassuolo and Pisa.
Despite that, they decided to part company with coach Giovanni Stroppa and are looking for a new tactician.
Nicola chosen for Cremonese job
There were several options who had negotiations, but Sky Sport Italia seem confident that a choice has now been made for Nicola.
He had steered Cagliari to safety in the top flight, but they had different ideas over how to go forward this season.
Nicola is still under contract, so he must first negotiate a settlement to terminate it early, then sign on with Cremonese.
The 52-year-old has a remarkable record of keeping teams in Serie A, often against the odds, such as with Crotone, Genoa, Salernitana and Empoli.
Cagliari have already appointed Fabio Pisacane for the new season.
