Arsenal are set to face significant interest from Bayern Munich this summer in one of their star players that would provide a marquee signing for the Bundesliga giants.

The Gunners have enviable quality of depth in attack when all their stars are fit after splashing out to sign the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke last summer.

However, this has meant a reduction of minutes for some stars including Kai Havertz, who has recently returned from a five-month absence through injury.

Havertz is still a key figure for the Gunners despite multiple knee injuries limiting him to just one appearance in 11 months but the 26-year-old has scored twice in five matches since regaining fitness last month.

The German international’s return has come at a pivotal moment for Arsenal after Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka suffered injuries of their own, with Mikel Arteta’s investment into attacking depth paying dividends amid the club’s Premier League title push.

But with Havertz not considered a guaranteed starter beyond this season, the forward has attracted interest from Bayern and he could be tempted by a return to the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich eye ‘star signing’ in Kai Havertz

According to fichajes, Bayern see Havertz as the ‘star signing’ needed to boost their European competitiveness next season and the player’s versatility is considered a key aspect of his suitability.

Bayern are said to see Havertz as the ‘ideal partner’ to enhance the performances of Harry Kane and their attacking core by providing ‘unprecedented tactical flexibility’ in Vincent Kompany’s system.

Havertz’s ability to slot into Kompany’s 4-2-3-1 at the right wing, up front or at the ten is considered a rare profile in modern football and Bayern are also keen to continue their identity as the club for the best German talent to play and thrive.

While no price has been mentioned, Arsenal would likely demand in excess of the €75m fee they paid to Chelsea in 2023, with Bayern described as being willing to ‘spare no financial resources’ to achieve their goals.
