Nottingham Forest and Juventus have been forced to give up on a €23m double deal, as both Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula refused the transfer.

The two clubs had worked out all the details and practically shaken hands on the agreement for the two players earlier this week.

However, Weah took a firm stand and refused outright to even discuss personal terms with Nottingham Forest.

Mbangula wasn’t terribly convinced of the move either and stalled on the negotiations while he tried to evaluate other alternatives.

With neither player eager to make it stick, Nottingham Forest had to accept this wasn’t going to happen and pulled out of the talks.

It is very frustrating for Juve, who had hoped to sell Weah for €15m and pocket a further €8m for Mbangula, but now find themselves with two very unhappy players.

Both were frozen out of the squad for the Club World Cup defeat to Manchester City, reacting with cryptic messages on social media.

Weah’s agent raged at the “shameful” treatment of his client by Juventus for trying to push him to Nottingham Forest.
