Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal has won the 2024 Golden Boy award.
The 17-year-old’s stunning rise to prominence continues apace. After winning Euro 2024 with Spain and scooping the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Yamal has now also been recognised as the best U21 player in Europe by Tuttosport.
The Italian sports magazine hosts the Golden Boy award annually and the voters, respected journalists from around the continent, have chosen the Barcelona youngster as the worthy winner of the 2024 edition.

The Golden Boy award has become an El Clasico affair in recent years and this trend has now continued. Barcelona midfielders scooped the 2021 and 2022 trophies, respectively, while Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham was named the 2023 winner last year.
However, the Golden Boy award does not only recognise the best U21 men’s player in Europe.
Golden Boy 2024: The other winners
The are many other accolades handed out by Tuttosport. For example, there is also a Golden Boy Web award handed out to the winner of the fan vote. Surprisingly, Juventus youngster Kenan Yildiz has won this honour.
Fiorentina right-back Michael Kayode has been named the Best Italian U21 Player, while Roma’s Giulia Dragoni has claimed the women’s version of the same award.

Barcelona’s Vicky Lopez has been named the Golden Girl Absolute Best, while teammate Aitana Bonmati has been named the Golden Player Woman for the second successive year. Retired Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos has scooped the Golden Player Man award.
Atalanta’s Antonio Percassi has been recognised as the Best President, while departing Man City sporting director Txiki Begiristain claimed the Best Manager trophy. Jorge Mendes has been named Best Agent.
