Nicolás Capaldo has been revealed as Hamburg’s 5th official signing for the 2025/26 season.

Red Bull Salzburg’s Nicolás Capaldo has made the switch from Austria to Germany and will now play for HSV in the Bundesliga. The 26-year-old midfielder follows in the footsteps of former fan favourite Ludovit Reis, who signed for Club Brugge in Belgium.

Capaldo, who has a market value of around €5 million according to Transfermarkt, costs the Hamburg club a fee of between €2.1 million and €3.5 million – at least according to German media.

The Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo claims that the actual fee is around €4.5 million. This would make Capaldo HSV’s most expensive signing since their last season in the Bundesliga (2017/18).

“We are delighted to be able to add another piece to the puzzle in our squad planning with the signing of Nicolás,” said HSV sporting director Stefan Kuntz on Thursday.

“He brings a lot of energy, mentality and temperament with him, which will benefit our team in the Bundesliga both on and off the pitch. What’s more, at 26, he is in his prime.”
