Pascal Groß’ time at Borussia Dortmund has come to an end, as the Bundesliga giants announced this afternoon.

After rumours suggested the 34-year-old was set to leave earlier this week, his medical has been completed successfully since.

With his contract due to expire in summer, the midfielder has left BVB and returned to Brighton & Hove Albion, signing a deal until 2027.

“Pascal has been an important player for us over the past year and a half, helping us especially in the final stretch of last season to secure Champions League qualification.

“He approached us with a request for a change, hoping for more playing time than he has received so far this season.

“We agreed to this because Pascal is a top professional and enjoys a very high level of respect from us for his conduct both on and off the pitch,” said BVB boss Sebastian Kehl.

Groß himself gave his thoughts on the time he spent with the Westphalian club. He explained how he was full of pride after fulfilling his dreams at the Black and Yellows.

“Playing for Borussia Dortmund is a lifelong dream come true for me. Especially playing in our stadium in front of the Yellow Wall was an indescribable feeling every time.

“I would like to thank BVB and the people in charge and wish the club and its incredible fans all the best,” he added.

Dortmund are expected to pocket around €2million up front for the German, with the possibility of a further €1million to come if bonuses are met.
