Die Nullfünfer have extended the Norwegian defender’s contract by a further two years.
Andreas Hanche-Olsen will remain with Mainz until 2028, the club officially announced this evening.
The 28-year-old central defender has prematurely extended his contract which was due to run until next summer.
Hanche-Olsen joined from KAA Gent in January 2023 and quickly established himself in the starting eleven at Mainz.
The 21-time Norwegian international has since made 56 competitive appearances for Mainz while providing 3 goals and 4 assists.
“Andreas is a player with absolute mentality, strong in duels, and experienced,” said Mainz sporting director Niko Bungert.
“He has impressively demonstrated his defensive qualities in the Bundesliga over the past few years.
“He completely identifies with Mainz 05, with our style of play, and with what defines this club. Furthermore, Andreas is also a very important, positive character off the pitch,” he added.
