Official: Juventus confirm squad for crucial Udinese clash – Only three midfielders selected

A selection crisis in Turin means that Igor Tudor has only called up three midfielders to his Juventus squad for Sunday’s crucial Serie A match against Udinese at the Allianz Stadium. 

Teun Koopmeiners is expected to be out for the rest of the season with an achilles injury and Khephren Thuram is unavailable through suspension, which leaves Manuel Locatelli, Weston McKennie and Douglas Luiz as the only available central midfielders in the senior squad. 

There are a few absences in defence as well, including Pierre Kalulu and Nicolo Savona through suspension, as well as the long-term injured Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal, which leads to call-ups for Next Gen regulars Riccardo Turicchia and Javier Gil Puche. 

There are boosts in the form of the returning Andrea Cambiaso and Lloyd Kelly, both of whom are in line to start against Udinese on Sunday evening. Federico Gatti is also in the squad after returning off the bench in the 1-1 draw against Lazio last weekend. 

Tudor still has a full complement of attacking options available with Kenan Yildiz back from suspension. 

Randal Kolo Muani and Dusan Vlahovic are both in the squad, although pre-match reports claim that the Frenchman is likely to start over the Serbian, who could be in for his final run-out at the Allianz Stadium as a Bianconeri player tonight. 

Juventus require two victories from their last two matches of the Serie A season in order to claim fourth position and qualification for the Champions League without depending on other results. 

There is a scenario where the Bianconeri wrap up fourth place on Sunday, which requires a victory over Udinese and for all of Lazio, Roma and Bologna to lose their matches, which all kick off at 19.45 BST.

Defenders: Cambiaso, Costa, Veiga, Kelly, Gatti, Rouhi, Turicchia, Gil Puche. 

Midfielders: Locatelli, McKennie, Douglas Luiz. 

Forwards: Kolo Muani, Vlahovic, Yildiz, Conceicao, N.Gonzalez, Weah, Mbangula, Adzic.
