Official: Mainz bring Sheraldo Becker back to the Bundesliga

Former Union Berlin forward Sheraldo Becker returns to the Bundesliga, signing for Mainz 05.

Mainz 05 have completed the loan signing of Sheraldo Becker from Osasuna.

The 30-year-old reunites with Mainz coach Urs Fischer, under whom he played at Union Berlin, on a loan deal running until the end of the season. 

He arrives as a replacement for Benedict Hollerbach, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

“Sheraldo Becker knows the league and the coach very well,” said Mainz sporting director Niko Bungert. 

“We’re pleased that, in such a short time, we were able to find a solution that requires minimal adjustment and adds extra quality to our squad.”

Becker added: 

“I’m delighted the move worked out so quickly and I’m excited to return to the Bundesliga. I played almost all of my Bundesliga games under Urs Fischer and I’m happy to be working with him again. Now it’s about securing as many points as possible in the relegation battle.”
