While Ruben Amorim’s men have been busy negotiating potential incomings and outgoings so far this window, they have so far failed to officially complete any transfer.

Paraguayan left back Diego Leon is in Manchester today for a medical, after which an announcement is expected that will confirm him as a new Man United player.

United will pay his club Cerro Porteno $4 million plus $1m in easy add-ons and over $3.5m in difficult-to-achieve bonuses – according to Fabrizio Romano.

León will officially join United in July 2025.

But while this transfer is set to be confirmed potentially on Sunday, United Women have actually officially got one of their own deals over the line.

Manchester United Women have officially signed young goalkeeper Kayla Rendell from Southampton.

The 23-year-old has signed a deal until the summer of 2027 with the club holding an option of a 12-month extension, as is club policy also with the men.

Rendell is seen as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in England, making 134 appearances for the Saints and being called up to the England squad.

What did Rendell say?

“It’s a dream to be signing for Manchester United and I can’t wait to join the group and get started. I’m ready to take the next step in my career and play my part in pushing for success at United,” she said upon joining United.

“I want to thank Southampton for all the support and opportunities they have given me since joining as a nine-year-old girl. I will always cherish so many fantastic memories of my time there.”

United Women are currently fourth in the Super League, just one point behind rivals Manchester City in second.

On Saturday, Man Utd Women thrashed West Brom 7-0 in the FA Cup, which they won last season.

United’s men will be hoping this result rubs off on them ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup match against Arsenal.
