Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers has signed a new contract with Unai Emery’s club, putting an end to transfer speculation that he could leave for Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur.
The Birmingham club have confirmed that Rogers has agreed a deal that will keep him at Villa Park until 2031 and is the latest player to commit his future to the club, with John McGinn having penned a new deal last week.
Although the player has added just one year to his previous deal, the agreement is vital to keep the in-demand attacker at the club.
Rogers has seen his reputation skyrocket since joining Villa in a €9.4 million deal from Middlesbrough in the winter transfer window of 2024.
After scoring 14 goals and creating 13 more last season, his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has risen to €66.2m.
Aston Villa announced on the club’s official website: “Aston Villa is delighted to announce that Morgan Rogers has signed a new contract with the club.
“The England international has agreed a deal that will keep him at Villa until 2031.
“Rogers signed for the club in February 2024 from Middlesbrough and has become a key member of Unai Emery’s side, earning a debut for the Three Lions in November 2024.
“His stellar performances last term saw his peers vote him PFA Young Player of the Season.”
Rogers reacts to new deal
The player is delighted to have his future secure at Aston Villa.
He said: “The faith from the people at the club is a really nice feeling, and I couldn’t wait to sign. I’m really happy.
“It’s home. Being from the area makes it that bit sweeter, but the manager, the players, the staff, everyone here is so warm and welcoming every day.
“I’m excited to come in and train, work hard and give my all every day. I really enjoy it.
“The most important thing for me is enjoying my football and being able to express myself. There’s no reason why I wouldn’t want to stay here.”
Rogers doubles his wage with new contract – report
Rogers is set to double his wage from £75,000 per week to £150,000 per reports from TeamTalk, while it has also been claimed that there will be a release clause written into his deal.
This report indicates that he will be allowed to leave should a bid of £100m (€114m) arrive for him.
Villa’s commitment to Rogers is clear. Despite the club being under pressure from the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, as well as UEFA’s Squad Cost Ratio rule, the Villans have pushed the boat out to tie him down on a long-term basis.
