Official: Real Madrid confirm first signing of 2025 summer transfer window

Real Madrid intend to be busy this summer, and with the 2024-25 season still ongoing, they have announced their first signing of the transfer window.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Real Madrid had won the race to sign Dean Huijsen, who was also being pursued by the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United. The Spain international prioritised a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, and it has now been confirmed that it is one that he will make in the summer.

On Saturday, Real Madrid and Bournemouth both confirmed that Huijsen would be moving to Los Blancos in the summer, with his £50m release clause having been activated.

“Real Madrid C. F. and AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Dean Huijsen, who is linked to our club for the next five seasons, from June 1, 2025 to June 30, 2030.

“At 20 years old, Dean Huijsen is already an international with Spain and has played in Italy’s Serie A with Juventus and Roma, and in the Premier League with Bournemouth.

“Dean Huijsen is nominated for the best young player in the Premier League 2024-2025.”

Huijsen to be first of four possible Real Madrid signings

Huijsen will be the first of several summer signings made by Real Madrid this summer. They have already agreed a pre-contract with Trent Alexander-Arnold, while it has been reported in the last few days that Alvaro Carreras is set to join from Benfica. All three players are projected to be available for the 2025 Club World Cup, and on top of this, a new midfielder is also wanted.

Huijsen is a top signing for Real Madrid, and at 20 years of age, he is a player for the present and future. He will also fit seamlessly into Xabi Alonso’s 3-4-3/3-4-2-1 system that he is likely to utilise at Los Blancos next season.
