Official: Schicker stays as managing director of Hoffenheim while Henssler resigns

The 39-year-old supposedly shares a good relationship with both Dietmar Hopp and TSG coach Christian Ilzer.

After the board of TSG Hoffenheim met today, February 9, it was confirmed that Andreas Schicker will remain as the club’s managing director.

The decision comes as a surprise to many around the Bundesrepublik after rumours circulated last weekend that Schicker could resign after an alleged data protection breach. 

According to Sky Germany, the reason for this was the canceled shareholders’ meeting at the Sinsheim club, which was originally scheduled to happen today.

However, it never took place due to an urgent application filed by Hoffenheim’s benefactor, Dietmar Hopp, with the Heidelberg Regional Court.

As a result, the previous interim club chairman and Schicker’s opponent, Christoph Henssler, has resigned – a decision which has averted major chaos at Hoffenheim.

“The sporting development of the past few months is clear proof of the successful and dedicated work of all employees at the club. 

“TSG Hoffenheim and its members have always been and remain my top priority. It has always been very important to me to further develop the club both structurally and professionally. 

“Out of deep affection for my club, I wish TSG Hoffenheim all the best for the future and am resigning from my position effective today,” said Christoph Henssler upon his resignation.
