Bologna have confirmed that Poland international goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski will be out for six weeks after an injury sustained against Napoli.

The shot-stopper fell to the ground clutching the back of his right leg when taking a goal kick during the opening minutes of this weekend’s 2-0 Serie A victory.

He was forced off the field, and with second choice Nicola Ravaglia also out of action, had to be replaced by 17-year-old debutant Massimo Pessina.

Now tests have confirmed Skorupski was diagnosed with a medium-high grade lesion of the flexor in the right thigh.

A statement from Bologna notes he is expected to be out of action for circa 45 days.

Skorupski had already sustained a right leg muscular injury last year.

It is a heavy blow for the 34-year-old, who has been at the Stadio Dall’Ara since 2018.

Most of his career has been spent in Serie A, arriving for Roma in 2013, then having a loan experience at Empoli from 2015-17.

Ravaglia, who turns 26 today, is struggling with an ankle injury, but should return after the break for international duty.
