Manchester United have been handed a second chance to sign midfielder Mouhamed Dabo after an utterly bizarre twist.

Article continues under the video

The Senegal U17 captain had a trial with the Red Devils in October and has also been showing off his skills at other European giants in recent months. Man Utd were ready to sign him, but it was surprisingly announced earlier this week that they had missed out on the wonderkid

Croatian third-tier side NK Kustosija, a development club that produced former Barcelona defender Mika Faye and others, revealed on social media that they had managed to tie up a deal for Dabo to join upon turning 18 next year.

It was claimed that ‘numerous European giants’ had been beaten to his signature. However, the situation has now taken a bizarre twist as the midfielder’s current club, Be Sport Academy, claim that Kustosija are spreading fake news.

Be Sport Academy deny that an agreement with the Croatian side has been reached and insist that Dabo remains on the market and available for clubs like Man Utd, Chelsea and Barcelona to be signed.

Dabo the victim of ‘manipulation’

Africa Foot has approached Be Sport Academy’s communications manager, Rassoul Diagne, who is quoted as saying: “There has been some manipulation between the young player and the club.

“Mouhamed is currently a player for Be Sport Academy. He hasn’t signed with NK Kustosija. The player hasn’t approved the agreement regarding the official transfer to the Croatian club.”

The Senegalese outfit also confirmed to wiwsport that Dabo remains on their books. “Contrary to information circulating on a foreign club’s account and widely shared, Mouhamed Dabo is still a Be Sport Academy player and remains available for a transfer,” a statement read.

To make the situation more bizarre, Dabo had apparently shared Kustosija’s announcement on his own social media channels before deleting the post. As things stand, his future remains open, giving Man Utd a second chance to finally wrap up his signing.
