Official: Thielmann extends Köln deal

FC Köln announced the early contract extension of Jan Thielmann.

Jan Thielmann penned a new deal until 2028 with the newly-promoted Bundesliga club Köln. The Billy Goats signed Marius Bülter from TSG Hoffenheim the other day, and they’re now secured another contract extension.

The 23-year-old already played 110 Bundesliga games for the club. He was also a vital player in last season’s promotion campaign. Köln’s sporting director Thomas Kessler spoke about the German U21 international.

“In our eyes, Jan radiates much of what we envision for 1. FC Köln in the future: He identifies strongly with his role, has a great mentality, and a daily desire to develop further. We are delighted that Jan wants to follow this path with us and actively contribute to stabilizing FC in the Bundesliga” said the former goalkeeper.

“FC Köln is my club. And Cologne has become my home. After relegation last year, I consciously decided to stay here and turn things around. We’ve committed to returning to the Bundesliga together. I’m very proud of that. Now I want to take the next step at FC Köln” said Thielmann.
