Udinese have sold Florian Thauvin to Lens (RCLens)

Udinese veteran Florian Thauvin has officially completed his transfer to RC Lens in a deal believed to be worth circa €6m plus €2m in add-ons.

The forward had arrived as a free agent in January 2023 following his surprising experience in Mexico with Tigres.

His contract had only recently been extended to June 2026, just days before it had been set to expire.

However, the call came for a return to France, where he had not played since 2021.

Thauvin made 73 official appearances for Udinese, scoring 15 goals and providing 10 assists.

His previous clubs include Bastia, LOSC, Olympique Marseille and Newcastle United.

The 32-year-old was greeted by cheering crowds at the airport in Lens when flying in for his medical tests and today signed the contract to June 2028.

While French sources put the transfer fee at €6m, Italian media insist there is also up to another €2m in performance-related bonuses.
