Official: Wolfsburg sell Lacroix to Palace

Maxence Lacroix’s long rumored move to Crystal Palace is now official. The 24-year-old rejoins former VfL Wolfsburg trainer Oliver Glasner in South London. Germany’s preeminent footballing publication, Kicker Magazine, reports that the German Wolves have pocketed a base-transfer-fee of €18 million. A further €3 million in performance-based incentives could flow into the WOB coffers if certain performance-related bonuses are met. 

“Maxence’s expiring contract meant that the situation was not ideal,” VfL personnel boss Peter Christensen noted in a statement, “Crystal Palace made an interesting offer for him, which prompted us to enter into negotiations with those responsible. We received an attractive offer and decided to comply with Maxence’s wish to move to the Premier League. We would like to thank Maxence and wish him all the best.”

“It was a pleasure to wear the VfL colors,” Lacroix noted in his own statement, “I was able to develop significantly in Wolfsburg, both as a person and as a footballer. I will always be grateful for that. A big thank you goes in particular to all the people I worked with every day of the year. You have a special place in my heart. I would also like to thank the fans for the love they have given me over the past four years. I wish you all nothing but the best.”
