Ornstein: Man Utd favourites to sign €95m striker

Manchester United can be considered among the favourites for the signature of Randal Kolo Muani, according to David Ornstein.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker is on his way out. Kolo Muani has failed to have much of an impact in his hometown since his whopping €95 million move in 2023 and the two parties are ready to go their separate ways.

Luis Enrique has omitted the Frenchman from his matchday squads on several occasions and bluntly admitted that his actions speak louder than words, thus all but confirming that Kolo Muani does not have a future at the Parc des Princes.

The player himself previously acknowledged that he has failed to live up to the hype and confessed that he has had the weight of the world on his shoulders due to his inflated price.

Despite his disappointing spell at PSG, Kolo Muani has no shortage of suitors this month and it is looking increasingly likely that he will be plying his trade in England before long.

Man Utd to land Kolo Muani?

According to The Athletic’s transfer insider David Ornstein, Man Utd, Tottenham and Juventus are leading the charge for the France international.

They are the clubs most active in the pursuit of Kolo Muani and can be considered the favourites to sign him. The 26-year-old is ‘regarded by his suitors among the best versatile attackers currently on the market’ despite flopping at PSG.

Any transfer this month would only be a loan deal, though it was previously suggested that the French champions would insist on a purchase obligation. However, Ornstein makes no mention of this.

It is unclear whether Man Utd would be able to sign Kolo Muani straight away or if they would first have to offload a player, perhaps Joshua Zirkzee, who also has interest from Juventus.

In fact, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Bianconeri have been ‘pushing’ for weeks to sign him, but their interest in Kolo Muani, which appears to have grown in recent days, could also threaten Man Utd in more ways than one.

Should Juventus beat off the competition and land the Frenchman, there would be little need for them to also sign Zirkzee, which would leave Man Utd stuck with a player who has yet to live up to his price tag.
