Osimhen bombshell: Chelsea target open to ‘impossible’ transfer

Victor Osimhen is warming to the idea of signing for Galatasaray permanently, but a deal is financially ‘impossible’ as things stand, according to a report.

The Napoli sharpshooter is spending the season out on loan in Istanbul after transfers to PSG, Chelsea and Al-Ahli fell through in the summer. Osimhen has a January break clause in his deal, potentially allowing him to get his big move after all, but he has already emphatically ruled out leaving Galatasaray mid-season.

“I’m here as a Galatasaray player, I’m happy here,” he said earlier this month. “Since I came, the Galatasaray fans, the club, I saw how big a family this club is. The way they have treated me and my family in a wonderful manner.

“It’s important to be able to give them my all on the pitch. I’ve seen a lot of the speculation linking me out of the club in January, I can state through me now I’m going to be here until the end of the season.”

Osimhen has notched a whopping eight goals and four assists in nine appearances so far, so Gala are unsurprisingly desperate to keep him long-term. But is this possible?

Galatasaray’s ‘impossible’ dream

According to Sky Germany, it is an ‘impossible’ dream for financial reasons. Osimhen himself, though he is ambitious and wants to play in an elite European league, is warming to the idea of a permanent stay in Turkey.

The 25-year-old relishes his role as a fan-favourite and loves life at Galatasaray, having settled in really well. The player could be convinced to complete a permanent switch.

The problem is, however, a financial one. Osimhen’s new release clause stands at a whopping €75 million and this is a fee that Galatasaray couldn’t muster in their wildest dreams. The club’s current record transfer is midfielder Gabriel Sara, who cost €18m in the summer.

Therefore, as things stand, a deal is deemed ‘impossible.’ But this does not mean that Galatasaray won’t try. Initial talks over a potential transfer have already taken place and the club may try to get creative. A cash-plus-player deal has been mooted as one potential solution.
